Ladybug Bakery started in the kitchen of my childhood home in Athol, Massachusetts. Granted, at the time I didn't have a name for this dream of mine, rather I had a love of baking and many willing taste testers!
Throughout schooling, many afternoons were spent laughing and dancing in the kitchen surrounded by my friends. You would often find us with a mess of flour and sugar and the outcome being something that wasn't always appealing to the eye, but certainly had a great taste.
For the longest time I wasn't even thinking about opening my own bakery, I didn't even know what I wanted my future career to be. I truly enjoyed baking and when the pandemic hit, my passion became a love to share my creations with my family and friends.
Food in general is something that we all need, yet when it turns to desserts and pastries or something that tempts the taste buds, there tends to be a little more joy involved. Joy for the creator, giver and receiver. Whether it be a birthday party, a family holiday or even just friends and family getting together, I love the idea of being a part of everyone's family memories.
It wasn't until it was time to start applying to colleges that I thought about becoming a baker. With the support of my family, I started my official baking journey at the Culinary Institute of America in San Antonio, Texas. After two amazing years, meeting many wonderful people, and learning so many things, I graduated with my associate's degree in baking and pastry arts.
I have started yet another business school journey at the University of Texas San Antonio. My hope is to one day own my own bakery cafe, selling coffee made from the beans of local farmers and baked goods I made in my kitchen, surrounded by laughter and horrible off-key singing in an effort to bring culinary joy to others.
